26/9/2008Save Grangepans Post Office campaign hosts public meeting as deadline looms
A senior Post Office manager will attend a public meeting on Monday giving Bo'ness residents the chance to air their views on the proposed closure of Grangepans Post Office.
Craig Tuthill, regional development manager for Post Office Ltd will be at the public meeting, which is being held at Cowdenhill Community Centre at 2pm on Monday 29 September - the final day of the public consultation. Also at the meeting will be Julie Morrison, Royal Mail group's head of external relations, and who is closely involved in the decision making process.
A large number of residents have already submitted their objections over the original decision to close the Grangepans office, and are aiming to continue their campaign's momentum right up to the consultation deadline.
In a statement the Post Office Ltd said: "The public consultation on proposed Post Office closures in the Edinburgh and Lothian will close on 29 September, and all feedback received - including that from the Grangepans public meeting - will be taken into account before the final decision is made.
Bo'ness Community Council and Falkirk Council have been at the forefront of the campaign, with local MPs, MSPs and councillors also backing the fight to save the Post Office.
